Scientists from the Laboratory of computer Sciences and artificial intelligence (CSAIL) at mit announced the creation of a system of RF-Pose based on neural network. New development gives the RF devices ability to "see" the movements and poses of the people behind various obstacles, such as walls.

The technology is simple: the RF device passes through the barrier to wireless signals, and the AI picks up the signals reflected from the body, and tries to understand how they can be correlated with a particular position. Next, generated something like a fuzzy heat map, on which is built the skeleton of a man.

Accurate recognition of large groups of people, 100 people, very high, about 83%, says Engadget. In addition, RF-Pose capable of detecting micro movements (e.g., shaking hands), and movement in a room with very dim lighting.

Development CSAIL may find application in search and rescue operations, security systems and surveillance cameras to identify offenders who got into the house, and in the health sector, to monitor the development of human multiple sclerosis or Parkinson's disease.

RF-Pose will help elderly: the system will automatically call emergency services if you "see" that an elderly person will lose consciousness and fall. It can also be used to control lighting, TV or games from any room.

The researchers are very strict about privacy. According to them, to activate RF-Pose one can perform several movements, so the system can not be used for purposes of surveillance without the person's consent.
